This 2-day workshop will provide an overview of Landmark’s study skills model, as well as practical, hands-on application of study skills strategies and teaching techniques in an elementary or middle school classroom. The course will cover specific topics such as organization (e.g., time, space, and materials), identifying topics, main ideas, details, two-column note-taking, study strategies, and microuniting and structuring projects. Participants should bring a textbook or materials that they currently use/will use with students for the application portions of the seminar to see how the skills apply to their curriculum.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Define study skills and explain different study skills strategies
- Demonstrate an understanding of how to incorporate these techniques into your curriculum
- Generate meaningful activities that integrate curriculum and study skills
- Explore various ways to adapt and micro-unit skills to meet the needs of your students
- Discuss ideas and practical methods related to study skills
- Recognize the importance of teaching study skills

Graduate Credit
There is an option to add one (1) graduate credit to this 2-day course from Fitchburg State University. Graduate credit is optional; the cost is $210 and the non-refundable payment is made directly to Fitchburg. The timeline to opt into graduate credit is firm and details will be available once the course begins so you can make your final decision at that time.
