What Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) means to Landmark Outreach
Landmark Outreach is committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), both within our own organization and in our work with educators and districts. Education is what empowers individuals to participate in society and feel valued, connected, and confident in the modern world. The information, skills, and opportunities provided by schools help us maneuver some of life’s most critical tasks, from filling out a job application to knowledgeably voting for policymakers who hold our interests at stake. When the educational system produces disparate outcomes for different groups of students, inequality is perpetuated across all aspects of society.
In our education system and throughout the United States, we see different life outcomes for people as a result of bias based on elements of identity, such as race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, neurodiversity, and ability. It is our responsibility as educators to help break down the social constructs and systemic injustices that created these disparities. Landmark Outreach believes that ensuring equitable educational opportunities for all students is the best way to help the next generation of adults actively engage in society and create a more just future.
